LASCASSAS, TENN. – In response to Joe Carr pointing out Shane Reeves’ embrace of the TEA/NEA liberal agenda that has earned him their endorsement, the Reeves campaign falsely claimed that Joe Carr had “begged” for the Teacher’s Education Association (TEA) endorsement and did not receive it. Not surprisingly, Reeves completely failed to address the fact that the endorsement he received from the liberal TEA/NEA is a complete contradiction to his claims of being a “conservative” Republican. Shane hates to deal with facts, so here are a few:
FACT: The Tennessee Education Association (TEA), which funnels teachers’ union dues into the liberal political activities of the National Education Association (NEA), endorsed Reeves. This is the same TEA/NEA that endorsed Hillary Clinton for President over Donald Trump, funds Planned Parenthood abortion operations, and who’s leadership has declared that those who support the 2nd Amendment and the NRA are “going to hell”.
FACT: The pro-abortion, anti-gun, pro-Hillary Clinton TEA/NEA is supporting Shane Reeves while he misleads voters in the 14th District by claiming to be pro-life, pro-2nd Amendment and a supporter of Donald Trump.
FACT: Joe Carr NEVER “begged” for the TEA endorsement. Joe Carr NEVER met with TEA or their representatives, nor was he offered an endorsement by the TEA. Joe Carr NEVER asked for an endorsement from the TEA in any way. Had Carr been offered the endorsement he would have declined; had they issued an endorsement he would have rejected it because he does not support their liberal agenda.
FACT: The TEA lobbyist, Jim Wrye, is former state director of the Alabama DEMOCRATIC Party. The TEA/NEA gives over 90% of their contributions to DEMOCRATS. Their national PAC spent over $5.67 million dollars in the 2015-16 election cycle. According to opensecrets.com all but $268 of that money was spent FOR Democrats or AGAINST Republicans.
“Shane Reeves has a real problem with the truth, which may explain why he feels so comfortable getting support and encouragement from liberal Democrats like Jim Wrye who run the TEA/NEA,” Joe Carr noted. “Birds of a feather actually do flock together.”
